Potentially Asked Questions

About me:

Who are you really?

Zeo.

Do you really look like that?

Yeah. Maybe you’ll identify me somewhere.

How long have you been into comics? What is your history with comics?

I got into comics, like many people, through anime and manga. I loved Pokemon as a kid (ok, I still do) and it inspired me to start drawing. After that, I started reading a bunch of manga (some of which I’m not too proud to admit to–hey, I was 14). It was, you’ll be unsurprised to hear, my dream to move to Japan and be a manga-ka. But somewhere in college I lost my interest in the manga deal and my art style started changing. I started reading comics from other countries and found that, gasp, they were just as good if not better than the manga I had sworn by. I did a strip comic for the college paper for a couple years. While I didn’t stick with that project, I did eventually find the format I wanted to pursue. So here I am!

What print/webcomics have you/do you read?

For print, see “facts about me” above. As for webcomics, you can check my exits for links to webcomics I like.

What genre or style of comics do you like reading best?

I LOVE autobiographical or journal comics. But next to that, slice of life is my favorite. Basically, anything that is interested in showing the beauty of everyday life. I’m not generally as interested in the usual genre types, but if I were, I’d say psychological thriller/horror and romance. But it has to be GOOD romance. None of this hackneyed bishie-sparkle shoujo zomg s/he’s-so-perfect crap.

Will you take a look at my comic?

If you want me to!

Will you link me if I link you?

I totally appreciate it if you decide to link me, but in order for me to link you, your work has to be something I would be interested in reading. In other words, I’ll only link you if I like your stuff, and not just because you link me. But go ahead and link me anyway if that’s what you want to do! Unless you are a collective or webcomic group, and then I will be happy to link you if you link me. :D

What advice would you give to beginning or aspiring comic artists?

I spent a lot of time thinking that I needed something I didn’t have in order to do comics. Don’t do that. If you have passion, a mark-making apparatus, and something to make marks on, do it.  Start making comics. You don’t need all the epic technical skill and fancy pens/paper to learn how to draw. So don’t wait for those things to justify getting started. Besides that, some general advice: don’t worry if your first comics suck. Everyone’s does, and it might help you to submit your work to workshops for feedback on how to improve. Also, don’t begin drawing comics with the intent to get famous or make bank. Draw because you have something to say. Let the rest follow.

About Rant Hour:

What inspired Rant Hour?

I love to rant. Ask anybody. I needed an outlet, and best of all, I will never run out of material.

You should rant about X/Can I suggest a rant topic?

I don’t generally accept topic suggestions, as I have more than enough material on my own.

Swearing? WTF?

Yeah. Sometimes I do it a lot, sometimes not so much. It depends on how I’m feeling that day and what sounds good when I’m writing it. If it offends you, well, that’s Rant Hour for you.

Are you that much of a sailor mouth in real life?

Sometimes, but not usually. Again, it depends on how I’m feeling when I write each comic.

You said something that offends me!

The thing is, no matter what I say, there’ll always be something that pisses someone off. Remember, this work is full of MY OPINIONS. If you agree with them, fantastic. If you don’t, great! Either way, it doesn’t really matter. You read Rant Hour to see what I think, not what you think.

I’m not offended, but I respectfully disagree.

If you want to debate a topic or offer a point, please feel free to do so! Rants were made to be discussed!

Why don’t you just shut up and learn to enjoy life?

I am enjoying life! By ranting about it!

Are you conservative or liberal/a republican or democrat?

I’m not affiliated with any party at the moment (independent). I’m sure you can guess which ideology I mostly fall in to from my rants, but I want to make it clear that this is not a political comic. I rant about political issues that bother/affect me, but it isn’t my intent to alienate or favor one side of people over the other. Daily annoyances affect us all equally.

How do you make/write Rant Hour?

Drawn with an intous 4 tablet in an ancient dinosaur of a program you kids have probably never heard of: Photoshop CS2.

Who is the handsome bloke that sometimes shows up in Rant Hour?

That’s my husband, DailyB. <3

I see you’re a fan of XYZ. Did they/anyone inspire Rant Hour?

Honestly, not really. I like reading rants for much the same reason I like writing them: it’s fun to bitch about stuff. But I wouldn’t say I’ve been influenced by anyone in particular, other than maybe in a general way.

Are you a bitch in real life?

No, I’m actually a pretty nice person. :/
